MARCH 2010
Dear Members,
Welcome to the new season.
Those of you who are members of British Tennis should have automatically had your membership renewed on March 1st. The basic membership is free again this year. Wimbledon tickets may only be allocated to club members who are also British Tennis members. Junior members over the age of nine are allowed to enter the draw but if successful do have to have an adult with them when they go to Wimbledon. Tickets are allocated in pairs and we have five pairs this year. The draw will take place at a Tuesday or Friday morning club session mid-April so make sure you pay your subscription by the end of March to be entered into the draw. If you are not a British Tennis Member you can join by going to www.lta.org.uk and clicking on membership on the blue bar. You can also join by telephoning 020 8487 7000.
The club tournament entry form is enclosed with this newsletter and the details are on that sheet. Do please consider entering. The more people who enter the better the tournament is.
If you wish to go to the Skittles evening on Friday, March 26th, please see the menu on the next sheet and give Keith orders and payments (cheques made out to Lechlade Tennis Club) by 22nd March.
Don’t forget that clothing with our logo on may be ordered from JMM embroidery Ltd. There is a range of clothing on their website jmmembroideryltd.co.uk and their telephone number is 01793 530806. I don’t think I have seen anyone wearing any yet.
Mark Thomas will be running a Wilson racquet trial session one Thursday evening soon. Watch out for the date.

NOVEMBER 2009
Dear Members,
It seems a long time since our quiz, which I think everyone enjoyed. As one of the also-rans, I certainly still did! It is now nearly time for the Annual Dinner on Friday, 4th December. Please remember that Jo needs your orders by 22nd November.
Another December excitement for you will be on Tuesday 15th in the clubhouse at 11am. You will be able to share mince pies, a chat and a glass of something. We will be there even if the weather is no good for tennis.
The next dates you need to have in your diaries are the 23rd January when we have a trip to the Delta and the Barn Dance on Saturday, 6th February. If you will be away for a while over Christmas it might be an idea to let me know now if you want to go to the Delta and what food you would bring. For those of you who have not been before, we hire the venue for the evening and spend some time playing on the four indoor courts and some time eating the food we take and chatting. There is a bar there. Altogether a good time is had by all!
You may have heard that we have got planning permission to erect floodlights on court 1. The floodlight firm hope that installation will be completed by early December. This should mean that we can have better winter evening social sessions. I hope to see you all there.
You may recall that I kept pestering you last year to join British Tennis. Our club allocation of Wimbledon tickets is dependent on the number of British Tennis members we have. So many of you joined that we received more pairs of tickets than we have had before – well done! If you joined last year you will automatically have had your British Tennis membership renewed for this year. If you are a new member or an existing member who has not joined, may I ask you to consider doing so? If you just have the basic membership it is free at the moment and you can sign up by going to the LTA website – LTA.org.uk You will need to do it by November 30th to have a bearing on next year’s allocation. You do get various goodies for joining. Alternatively you can join by calling 020 8487 7000.
We now have two keys for accessing the changing room. They have blue handles so are easily recognisable. One is on the key ring that is kept in the green bag. The other is on a hook just inside the clubhouse door for use when it is not a club session.
I think that is all for now,
Maureen
